Berroco Vintage Baby Handpaint Yarn - Acrylic DK

I have used this yarn many times to make sweaters for toddlers. It is very soft, and always works up well. I have tried nearly all the speckled colors by now and have never been disappointed. The Belltrix pattern works nicely with this yarn, although I needed to play with gauge and sizing a little. (I just knitted the next size up, using the suggested needle for the yarn. Other Vintage DK yarns work easily for the small amounts of coordinating colors.) it is an easy pattern for a beginner.

This yarn is stunning and I have made three very different children’s sweaters with it. The birthday cake color is my personal favorite. (It knit up beautifully using the Rowan “buddy” sweater pattern. Recently I used the mint chocolate chip color to make the OGE Belltrix sweater pattern, which calls for a tweedy sort of yarn. The mint chip pattern gave the optical illusion of a tweed, without any of the itchy tweedy quality that might offend a toddler. I used the vintage baby pepper gray color...
