What Is Being Made

The 220 Superwash® Aran Tune Up is a beginner-friendly knit hat designed by Shannon Dunbabin. This downloadable knitting pattern creates a classic adult-sized hat with a finished circumference of 18" to 20" and a height of approximately 9 inches. The design is suitable for most adult head sizes and features a traditional construction worked in the round from the bottom up.

Knitting Techniques Used

This pattern employs fundamental knitting techniques appropriate for beginners and those with easy-level experience. The primary construction method is knitting in the round, which eliminates the need for seaming and creates a seamless, tubular fabric. The pattern uses both circular knitting needles for the initial body of the hat and double-pointed needles (DPNs) for the crown shaping when the stitch count becomes too small for circular needles. Needles and Notions
