Techniques Used

This knitting pattern employs several key techniques that contribute to its intermediate difficulty level. The construction includes ribbed edging worked along the front opening to create a neat, structured finish. Twisted stitches (abbreviated as Tw2R and Tw2L) are used to create decorative cable or twist details along the front opening, adding visual interest and texture to the garment. The pattern also incorporates shoulder shaping through strategic decreases at the armhole, ensuring a professional fit. The front opening is worked separately from the main body, requiring the knitter to manage multiple sections simultaneously and rejoin them appropriately.

Materials

The Celine Sweater is knitted using Rowan Alpaca Classic yarn, a luxurious fiber blend. The pattern calls for the yarn to be worked in double thickness, meaning two strands held together simultaneously, which creates a denser, warmer fabric. Yarn quantities vary by size, ranging from 19 to 38 balls of 25-gram weight. The photographed sample was created in Sierra Melange 117 and Champagne 127 colorways. Two pairs of needles are required: size 4 (3.5mm) needles and size 4½ (3.25mm) needles, allowing for gauge control between ribbed and main fabric sections. A 30 cm zipper is also needed to complete the front opening. The stitch gauge is 21 stitches and 26 rows over 10 centimeters when working ribbed stitches on size 4½ needles with doubled yarn.
