I ordered one skein of this yarn for socks in Cloud Jungle because someone had mentioned that it goes well with jeans. When it was delivered, I ordered a second skein because I decided to knit a shawl instead of socks. Colors are a very subtle transition of muted shades of blue, olive green and an unidentifiable shade of red that could be anything from rose to terracotta. Actual weight of the ball I wound is 112 grams (most yarn seems to weigh two grams less than stated on the labels; this weighs 12 grams more). Winding from swift to ball winder hit a few snags that required more patience than usual, but it was doable. This yarn feels more coarse to the touch than any other merino I have used; I seldom use any fiber other than merino. I just hope it turns out to be as itch-free as other merinos, although as a shawl I can make sure it doesn't touch my skin. If it turns out to be itch-free, I'll order another skein for socks.

I'm knitting socks with two different skeins and colour ways of this yarn, and am having two very different experiences. The Cocoa Kiss skein is knitting up beautifully and looks like it will become lovely socks. In contrast, I've just wound and cast on a pair using Visual Purple. The yarn had 4 breaks in it that I discovered while winding (not an issue I've ever had in the past), and seems to be unevenly and loosely spun. I doubt I will actually knit these socks with this yarn, and am unsure what sort of project it would be better for. I am really disappointed by this skein, and it will make me think twice before ordering dream in color again. If australia had somewhere that I could look at and feel the yarn before purchasing I might consider it again but not for buying online.

      Comments about true Smooshy:

The picture shows a colorway of light greens and blues. What I received was nowhere near the picture. It was a kind of light olive green solid--not a terrible color, but not what I intended to buy. It's soft and I may use it for something, but the picture is false advertising and I won't be buying anything from Dream in Color again.

          Comments about true Smooshy:

I ordered "Forget Me," which looks to be a colorway with yellowish green to light aqua colors. What I got is called Forget Me, but its a solid color--a really ugly light olive green. I understand that hand dyed yard varies, but it shouldn't vary from a colorway to a solid!

I got it on sale, so I guess you get what you pay for, but after this experience I wouldn't take this stuff if it were given to me.

I found a book on Tunisian crochet and the pattern recommended this yarn. I have never crocheted like this and was determined to learn. L loved the look of this yarn and NO one sold it in any of the stores. I really like this yarn and if the crocheting doesn't work out I will definitely find another project for it.

                  Comments about true Smooshy:

Generous skeins and beautifully dyed, my only complaint is that I need to reinforce the heels and toes of socks made with this yarn. I love the yarn for scarves, hats and sweaters especially sweaters for children, as it is machine washable. It is one of my favorites, just not for socks.

While I understand that handpainted will have variations, the skein I ordered was an ugly, muddy, mess that bore no relation to the colours in the photo.
