Product Description
Inspired by a documentary I watched on plastic waste in our oceans, I wanted to create a beachy pullover that could be worn as a bathing suit cover up or a tunic / dress to wear in the summer. The Gyre Tunic is named after the 5 gyres that our earth’s large ocean currents create where, unfortunately, lots of this plastic waste accumulates. The design is knit from the bottom up in the round and features a lacy skirt with little round clusters of lace meant to look like swirling gyres. The bodice is worked in stockinette and simple armhole and neckline shaping are worked for a scoop neck tank top. Style this tunic over your bathing suit at the beach or over a dress or slip during the warm summer months. Knit up in Shibui Knits ‘Rain’ yarn (a mercerized cotton), it is a surprisingly easy knit with a crisp, fresh fabric with great drape!
