The Heidi Waistcoat is a knitted sleeveless garment designed as an intermediate-level project from Quails Studio. This waistcoat is available in nine sizes, accommodating chest measurements ranging from 71–76 cm up to 152–157 cm, with corresponding finished chest measurements from 96 cm to 179 cm. The design offers versatility for a wide range of body types and fit preferences.

Knitting Techniques Used

The Heidi Waistcoat employs several classic knitting techniques to create visual interest and structure:

• Cable Twists: The pattern incorporates cable twists, specifically right-leaning twists (Cr3R) and left-leaning twists (Cr3L), which create decorative twisted columns throughout the garment. These cables are worked at regular intervals across the fabric.
• Ribbed Edging: Ribbed stitches are used at the edges and borders, providing elasticity and a finished appearance.
• Reverse Stockinette Stitch: The main fabric is worked in reverse stockinette stitch (purl side facing outward), creating a textured, subtle surface that showcases the yarn qualities.
• Stranded Colorwork: The pattern is worked with two yarn strands held together simultaneously, creating a blended color effect and adding depth to the finished piece.

• Needles: One pair of size 6½ (4 mm) needles is required for the main fabric, along with one cable needle for working the cable twists.

The pattern specifies a gauge of 13 stitches and 20 rows over 10 centimeters when working reverse stockinette stitch with size 6½ needles, using one strand of Yarn A and one strand of Yarn B held together.
