An individual pattern from The Shetland Trader-Book One - a collection of 10 patterns inspired by the Shetland Islands from designer Gudrun Johnston with photography by Jared Flood.
Hömin Shawl (Evening Twilight): On long summer evenings in Shetland the twilight hues of gold and amber cast highlights and shadows across the grassland, illuminating the wildflowers and heather. Long walks taken in that magical atmosphere inspired this shawl. The clean lines, simple lace edging and effortless garter stitch make this a calming piece of knitting.
The pattern can be made wtih either laceweight or fingering weight yarn. The samples are shown in Madelinetosh Prairie (laceweight) and Old Maiden Aunt Superwash Merino 4ply (fingering weight). Suggested substitutes are below.
