Product Description
Juniper Moon Farm Andrea has both set-in sleeve sweater and drop-shoulder top options for kids and grown-ups! Both design options will work up beautifully in multicolor Cirrus Rainbow and solid Cirrus! The same soft Mako cotton fiber and chainette construction makes up these two yarns, with soft neutrals and pastels in solid colors for Cirrus and multicolor self-striping colorways in Cirrus Rainbow. With stay-cool cotton yarn, either option for Andrea will work up into a versatile pullover that's comfortable to wear even as the weather warms up and the wide size range makes it simple to make coordinating pieces for siblings and parents! Andrea is knit flat in pieces from the bottom up and seamed to lend structure to the finished garments.

What is Being Made
The Andrea is a versatile knitted garment available in two versions: a fitted top and a full sweater. Both designs feature the distinctive striped colorwork of the Rainbow Summer Collection. The sweater is sized from toddler (2-3 years) through adult (XL, 38-40" chest), with finished widths ranging from 24" for the smallest children's size to 44" for the largest adult size. The top offers similar sizing flexibility with finished widths from 28" to 50" depending on the selected size.
Techniques Used
Bottom-up construction: The Andrea is worked from the lower edge upward, allowing knitters to try on the garment as it grows and adjust length as needed. Seamed construction: Pieces are worked flat on straight needles and then seamed together, creating clean, professional-looking seams. Striped colorwork: The pattern features horizontal stripes created by alternating between two colors of yarn in a repeating sequence. Worked flat: Rather than working in the round, the front and back are knitted as separate flat pieces on straight needles, which are then joined together.
Stitches Used
The Andrea employs fundamental knitting stitches to create its structure and visual interest. Double moss stitch (Db.ms.st.): Used for the ribbed edge at the lower body, this textured stitch is created by alternating knit and purl stitches in a specific pattern. The double moss stitch provides elasticity and a refined finish at the hem. Stockinette stitch: The main body of the sweater is worked in stockinette stitch, created by knitting on right-side rows and purling on wrong-side rows. This creates the smooth, classic fabric that serves as the canvas for the stripe pattern. Decreases and shaping: The pattern uses standard decreasing techniques to shape the armholes and shoulders, including casting off stitches at the beginning of rows and working decreases (such as knit two together) to create sloped shoulders that fit properly at the neckline.
Materials
The Andrea is knitted using Juniper Moon Farm Cirrus Rainbow yarn in color 303 Hazel Iris. The sweater version requires 2 to 4 skeins of 100g each, depending on the finished size selected. Knitters will need US 5 (3.25mm) needles for the ribbed edge sections and US 6 (4mm) needles for the main body, allowing for proper gauge and fabric drape. The pattern is provided as a downloadable PDF that includes detailed schematic measurements and row-by-row instructions for all sizes.
