Knitting II - Fall 2026 - Virtual

Yes, you can expand your knitting skills online! Knitting 2 on Zoom is an introduction to knitting in the round on both circular and double pointed needles. Hats, mittens, socks, and sweaters can be knit on circular and double pointed needles. The class will focus on working stitch patterns in the round as you create three projects; a cowl, fingerless mitts, and a hat. You'll learn how to shape fabric using increases and decreases, fix mistakes, and read knitting patterns. There will be a review of knit and purl stitches, cast-on and bind-off, and gauge. If you've completed Knitting 1 or are a self-taught knitter who wants to fine-tune your skills, Knitting 2 will move you forward.

You will receive the Zoom link 1-2 business days before the virtual class.

Materials Required: Current patterns used in the class found at this link.

Circular Needles: US 7 - 16"" cable AND 24"" cable, US 8 - 16"" cable

Double Pointed Needles (set of 4 or 5, either is fine): US 6,US 7,US 8

Cowl: YARN: 210 yards Valley Yarns Amherst,  NEEDLES: US7/4.5mm circular needles with a 16""cable, US7/4.5mm circular needles with a 24"" cable, OTHER MATERIALS: tapestry needle, stitch marker

Mitts: YARN: 110 (120, 130, 140) yards Valley Yarns Amherst, NEEDLES: US6/4mm and US7/4.5mm double pointed needles, OTHER MATERIALS: tapestry needle, 3 stitch markers 1 of them a locking stitch marker, stitch holder or scrap yarn

Hat: SIZES: XS (S, M, L, XL) to fit head sizes about 16 (18, 20, 22, 24) inches YARN: 98 (108, 120, 135, 150) yards Valley Yarns Amherst.

NEEDLES: US7/ 4.5 mm circular needles with a 16” cable, US8/5mm circular needles with a 16” cable, and US8/5mm double pointed needles,

OTHER MATERIALS: tapestry needle, 6 stitch markers one of them different. 

 HOMEWORK: There will be weekly homework assignments.
