Pros

  • Beautiful colors
  • Dyed Evenly
  • No tangles
  • Very easy to work with

Cons

    • Scarves

The colorways are amazing, vibrant, rich. I crocheted a skinny scarf and am constantly asked where I bought it! I thought the yarn was very easy to work with, stitched up evenly, and is wearing very well (no snags or pills yet).

    Beautiful Scarf with Koigu KPPPM

My one and only experience with KPPPM was to make my granddaughter a scarf for Christmas 2013. I used P320, and the colors were beautiful. The yarn is very soft and felt wonderful in my hands. Only problem: the pattern was lace, so I blocked it and it grew about 12 inches. I just read in Yarn Harlot's blog that this growth is usually due to the knitter's not blocking a swatch. I thought gauge wasn't important when knitting a scarf, but maybe it is. Maybe the scarf should have been done with different size needles. SO, if you make something with this yarn, do a swatch and block it to check the size. My granddaughter still loves her scarf; she likes it long.

I used the leftover yarn for a Moebius Necklace for myself, and I love wearing it.

I didn't notice any bleeding of color when I soaked the scarf.

I enjoyed working with this yarn and would buy it again.

I knit at least two dozen pairs of socks with Koigu, but I can't resist the colors! (They are rich and variable, with a very short color change every few inches, sometimes every inch, and sometimes wonderful speckles.)

It's a wonderfully soft merino, which is even softer after washing. The recommendation is hand wash, but I use cold wash and rinse and the "delicate" cycle in a front loader, hang to dry.

I'm a slow and inefficient knitter to my knitting was not keeping up with my purchases. Then I thought of weaving. I put on a trial warp and made a shawl. Koigu almost never has knots—in 200-300 skeins I might have found three ply knots—and it's strong for its weight. I was careful, but while other knitting yarns have been problematic, I have never had a Koigu warp thread break.

The weaving comes off the loom a little stiff, then I wash it, hang it on a wooden rack to dry, and the next morning, it's heavenly!

I like that this is a woman-owned company, too. Accept no substitutes—and there are many trying to copy Koigu's unique and rich colors.

Koigu used to be very hard to find, but I am so glad to find WEBS carrying it! I will buy lots more as soon as I make a tiny dent in my stash!
