Construction Method

The scarf is worked bottom-up in a seamless, flat construction on straight needles. This approach allows the knitter to work continuously from cast-on to bind-off without seaming, creating a smooth, unified fabric. The pattern consists of 492 rows total, organized into a repeating stripe sequence that builds the full length of the scarf.

Stitches and Techniques

The primary stitch pattern is brioche rib, a reversible, textured stitch that creates an elastic, dimensional fabric with excellent drape. The brioche rib is worked according to a chart using a 4-stitch repeat plus selvage stitches. Key stitches include:

• Knit through back loop (ktbl) for the first selvage stitch on right-side rows
• Purl through back loop (ptbl) for the first selvage stitch on wrong-side rows
• Slip stitches purlwise (wyib on RS rows, wyif on WS rows) for the last selvage stitch, creating neat, finished edges

Stripe Pattern

Materials

After binding off all stitches in pattern, the fringe is trimmed to a uniform length of 12–14 cm. The knotted fringe pairs create a polished, intentional finish that complements the striped design and adds movement to the completed scarf.
