Lang 267-32 Pullover by Lang Yarns

Garment Overview

The Lang 267-32 Pullover is a knitted sweater designed in a classic raglan silhouette, available in sizes Small through Extra Large. This pullover features elegant lace patterning combined with stockinette stitch sections, creating a sophisticated garment suitable for various occasions. The design balances decorative lace elements with clean, structured shaping for a flattering fit across multiple size ranges.

Construction Method

This pullover is constructed using a bottom-up approach, meaning the knitter begins at the lower edge and works upward toward the neckline. The garment is worked flat on straight needles for the body and sleeves, then finished with seaming to join the pieces together. This traditional construction method allows for precise shaping and easy adjustments during the knitting process. The raglan shaping is achieved through strategic decreases worked on right-side rows, creating the characteristic diagonal lines from the underarm to the neckline.

Lace Techniques and Stitch Patterns

The pullover incorporates lace as a primary design element, featuring charted lace patterns that create openwork sections throughout the garment. The pattern uses standard lace abbreviations and techniques including:

  • Yarn overs (yo) to create the openwork characteristic of lace knitting
  • Decrease stitches including single decreases (slip 1, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over) and double decreases (slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over) to shape the lace motifs
  • Knit 2 together (k2tog) decreases for directional shaping
  • Stockinette stitch (knit on right-side rows, purl on wrong-side rows) as the base fabric
  • Reverse stockinette stitch sections for textural contrast

The lace patterns are worked from charted instructions with repeating motifs. Chart II features a 5-stitch repeat pattern, while additional chart sections show 6-stitch repeats, allowing the lace to flow continuously across the width of the garment. The charted patterns guide stitch placement and create the distinctive openwork design.

Shaping and Fit

The raglan shaping is a key feature of this pullover's construction. Decreases are strategically placed on right-side rows to gradually reduce stitches as the garment progresses from the body to the shoulders. This creates the characteristic diagonal lines of raglan sleeves, which provide a comfortable, athletic-inspired fit. The pattern includes specific instructions for working decreases while maintaining the integrity of the lace pattern, ensuring that the decorative elements remain balanced and visually appealing throughout the shaping process.
