Product Details

Mohair from Malabrigo is a beautiful laceweight blend of mohair and silk. Great for shawls, scarves and lightweight garments, Mohair works well double-stranded with itself or your favorite Malabrigo yarns and will give your projects a unique marled look. With its stunning texture, airiness, and depth of color, Malabrigo Mohair is the yarn you didn't know you needed but won't be able to live without!

Malabrigo Mohair is produced in dye lots of 5. Any order for more than 5 skeins will be of mixed dye lots. Some colors do not have any dye lots.

Hand-dyed yarns have subtle variations in colors that are natural and may vary from skein to skein.  There may be differences between pictures shown and the yarn you receive. To ensure the best results for your project:

  • Buy enough yarn for your entire project at one time.
  • When using hand-dyed yarn in your project work two rows from one skein and two rows from another skein to give an overall blended effect.

If you have any questions or concerns about hand-dyed yarn, please contact Customer Service.

I use Malabrigo mohair as a second yarn in a pair when knitting, particularly for mittens, hats, and scarves. I have paired it with my handspun yarns to knit simple patterns for mittens, that are dense and warm. This is my favorite way to use mohair, as a fine yarn, paired with another to give a wonderfully fuzzy knit fabric. Malabrigo mohair is a core spun yarn, some times the core is a bit to apparent for my tastes. The core may not take the dye as the fiber does. It's not clear to me if the fiber is dyed and then core spun, or dyed after spinning. ... I spun a hand painted skein and paired that with a Malabrigo mohair color way that blended very well. I also knit a shawl using Malabrigo sock and Malabrigo mohair held together. It is wonderfully furry ... =:)

This yarn is beautiful and looked exactly as advertised.

The color is not as bright as it is on other fiber, but the yarn is undeniably Malabrigo. Beautiful drape and nice halo to the garment. I would suggest using wood or plastic needles since this is a slippery yarn.
