Malabrigo Silky Merino is a dreamy blend of merino and silk in Malabrigo's stunning colors. Create luxurious garments and cozy, yet sophisticated accessories with Malabrigo Silky Merino.

Note: As with all hand-dyed yarns, colors may vary significantly from skein to skein, even within the same dye lot. The yarn color you receive may look different from the color pictured below. To ensure random color distribution, work from two balls of yarn at once, alternating a few rows from each ball.

Malabrigo Silky Merino is produced in dye lots of 10. Any order for more than 10 skeins will be of mixed dye lots. Some colors do not have any dye lots.

I'm using this for a moebius shawl. The project has been tossed around for a couple of years. The yarn felts with work (it's about 1/2 silk) so I can do spit-joins but it hasn't compacted while I've made it wait.

The pattern is a garter stitch with simple lace at intervals (from a Cat Bordhi pattern). Although a single, it shows the stitches well. I find it easy to knit (I'm using a size 7 Addi Turbo Lace needle). The yarn does not have a tendency to split; it flows easily through my fingers and around the needles. I like the way its multi colors display; there is no striping (an effect I didn't want), and the "pooling" is small - maybe a two-row "pool" (I like pooling, but only on the right project and this isn't it).

I fully intend to work with it again. I think a new knitter could use it, as I don't find it takes any particular consideration.

The only "con" (and I don't think of it that way) is that I don't think I'd use it for a felting project - but there are plenty of yarns to use for felting and, given the next-to-skin softness of this yarn, I would rather use it for shawls, hats, scarves, and perhaps sweaters.

I bought 5 skeins. 3 were a tangled mess. I had to throw one of them out. The other 2 took between 1-2 hours to untangle. When I get my wool I just want to knit. A shame because the wool itself is beautiful - it feels more silky then wooly. Good for children, or adults, who don't like itchy wool.

i bought two colors to make a double knit colorwork hat. it was soft, smooth, easy to work with, but i wound up frogging it because the colorwork wasn't showing. i plan to make a new plain double knit hat with it sometime soon.

I purchased this initially for the newest Stephen West knit-a-long shawl. Simply superb and showed the pattern so beautifully. My leftovers I am using to make a cowl.

This beautiful, luxurious yarn is a dream to work with. But beware! The colors are NOT even close to what I ordered. Malabrigo changes colors by dye lot. But....I still love this yarn!

I used this to knit one of the first sweaters I ever made in color Arco Iris. It turned out so much warmer and softer than I anticipated. Easy to knit with. There is quite a bit of difference between dye lots though, so get plenty.
