Universal Yarns Bamboo Bloom Handpaints is a fun thick & thin yarn with great colors to choose from. The thin strands of bamboo rayon give this yarn a touch of shine. Made in Turkey.

Bamboo Bloom Handprints

Great product to work with. Beautiful colors, nice consistency and fluffiness expect if you wash it several times (even if in cold water, flat dry).

I crocheted some lace motifs for a small bag and the yarn is very fun to feel. It's neat to see the textured stitches. But there were at least ten knots in the skein (no exaggeration!), which was frustrating. Also, the color I received looked like a washed-out version of the color photo on the site ("Koi Pond"), so it was completely different from what I expected.

    Lovely luscious colors

Comments about true Bamboo Bloom Handpaints:

I'm half done with a triangular shawl and it's turning out great. I'm using a 9mm crochet hook with a shell type stitch. The random big tufts of yarn look great and the colors (forest light) are fabulous.

Comments about true Bamboo Bloom Handpaints:

This yarn is pretty, but the extreme differences in the gauge of the yarn makes it odd after it's knitted. I made a scarf that is ok, but not something I'm crazy about.

Extremely poor quality -- not like the picture at all

    By

    Pros

      Cons

      • Blobs of wool very small and barely attached
      • Sections of bamboo have little color
      • Small blobs of wool spaced 44 to 60 in apart

      Best Uses

      • Very large piece where you want ramdom blobs

Comments about true Bamboo Bloom Handpaints:

Picture does not represent the yarn. The thick blobs of wool were spaced 44 to 6o inches apart and the thin sections of bamboo were barely colored. Yarn.com customer service said this yarn falls within the expected range of thick and thin sections. I disagree.
I had to keep one skein because I had wound it into a ball. It is now in the trash.

I only needed one skein to knit a cowl scarf in the round. It is a quick weekend project and they look awesome.

      Colourful, funky, fun yarn!

      Pros

      • It is a yarn that will work up quickly.

      Cons

      • Just can't decide what to make with it.

      Best Uses

      • Cowl or poncho

Comments about true Bamboo Bloom Handpaints:

I love the thick/thin nature of the wool which is displayed in a complimentary range of colours. I purchased a soft sutble grey wool as well as a vibrant orange/green,pink, turquoise .
A short poncho or shrug would best display the colours & texture.

Comments about true Bamboo Bloom Handpaints:

I am a fairly new knitter and when I first began to learn knitting, it seems I knitted many scarves!! I discovered Bamboo Handpaints and then all I wanted to do was knit scarves! With it's unique textures and vivid hand-dyed colors, it works up into a beautiful piece of art. I have given many scarves made from this yarn as gifts and had many to be amazed that the results produced are from one hank of yarn! If you haven't tried it..you should!!
