Universal Yarn Bamboo Bloom Handpaints is a fun thick & thin yarn with great colors to choose from. The thin strands of bamboo rayon give this yarn a touch of shine.

Hand-dyed yarns have subtle variations in colors that are natural and may vary from skein to skein.  There may be differences between pictures shown and the yarn you receive. To ensure the best results for your project:

  • Buy enough yarn for your entire project at one time.
  • When using hand-dyed yarn in your project work two rows from one skein and two rows from another skein to give an overall blended effect.

If you have any concerns about your hand-dyed yarn, please contact Customer Service for assistance in returning or exchanging your yarn.

Bamboo Bloom Handprints

Great product to work with. Beautiful colors, nice consistency and fluffiness expect if you wash it several times (even if in cold water, flat dry).

Picture does not represent the yarn. The thick blobs of wool were spaced 44 to 6o inches apart and the thin sections of bamboo were barely colored. Yarn.com customer service said this yarn falls within the expected range of thick and thin sections. I disagree.
I had to keep one skein because I had wound it into a ball. It is now in the trash.

I have this in many colors, very fun yarn

Comments about UNIVERSAL YARN Bamboo Bloom Handpaints:

Not your "normal" yarn, best to use in atypical creative ways. Lends very well to scarves and cowls. The thicks are VERY thick, the thins VERY thin. If you're knitting back-and-forth in rows you might have to put in a knot every once in a while to keep the thick sections from "pillowing." I have also put in a thin companion yarn along with it to keep the thin sections from being too thin, which can give a very interesting effect. Another project has this yarn in several rows and a plain worsted in other rows which works out nicely. It does have a knot every so often. Very beautiful yarn overall in magical color combinations.

Love this yarn. You never know what it will do. Thick and thin, fuzzy and normal. I did a self fringing shawl with it. Had done one previously and your color selection great. Came quickly as well.

Comments about UNIVERSAL YARN Bamboo Bloom Handpaints:

I was leery of knitting with this but found it off-beat and interesting to knit. The texture changes, changes, changes with the colors, to thick and thin and back again. Fat, then skinny.

          • Makes a neat fabric

          Cons

          • Color much lighter than picture

Comments about UNIVERSAL YARN Bamboo Bloom Handpaints:

I crocheted some lace motifs for a small bag and the yarn is very fun to feel. It's neat to see the textured stitches. But there were at least ten knots in the skein (no exaggeration!), which was frustrating. Also, the color I received looked like a washed-out version of the color photo on the site ("Koi Pond"), so it was completely different from what I expected.

Comments about UNIVERSAL YARN Bamboo Bloom Handpaints:

I'm half done with a triangular shawl and it's turning out great. I'm using a 9mm crochet hook with a shell type stitch. The random big tufts of yarn look great and the colors (forest light) are fabulous.
