Product Description
Valley Yarns 5/2 Bamboo is a fantastic part of our weaving line! This 5/2 yarn has a palette of deep, rich colors with the unique shine and drape of rayon from bamboo. You can feel good about the sustainability of bamboo, and enjoy the look and feel of projects woven in this elegant fiber. Although this yarn has the same yards per pound as 5/2 Cotton, 5/2 Bamboo behaves a little differently due to the nature of the fiber itself. Valley Yarns 5/2 Bamboo is spun and dyed in the United States.
Note: This yarn is sold in whole cones. Wind-offs are not available for this yarn. On average, cones weigh ~1lb but vary and can range between 0.8lbs to 1.3lbs.
Sett notes: Tabby, or plain weave, should be 16-18 epi in most cases while 18-20 epi is right for twill.
Care notes: On the first washing of dark colors or bright colors use a color catcher or dye magnet in the water.
5/2 Bamboo is also available in Natural.

Note: Some cones of Charcoal and Grey Blue are incorrectly stickered as each other.

‘One pound’ cone weighs 14 ounces. Two other one pound cones weigh 15 ounces. Pattern calls for full one pound cones. I’m disappointed.

I do not use this for weaving, but for crochet. It is a delight to work with and has a beautiful drape. The only mild complaint is that the 2-ply thread splits easily.

I’m working on some plain weave scarves to sell. The colors of this yarn is eye catching, and is working up as a sweet scarf.

I love this yarn however every time that I log in for another purchase I see that fewer colors are available in bamboo and in tencel. WEBs keeps sending out emails to advertise their yarns which are on back order. This has gone on for 6-8 months now. Why advertise if they are not available? I’ve been a steadfast customer for 25 years…back in the Elkins days. What a shame that WEBs has lost credibility. I now purchase elsewhere until this changes.
