Product Description
Valley Yarns Mint Cooler is a cozy and casual oversized tunic
that is just right for wearing over jeans or a pair of trousers. This women’s
pullover is knit in Northampton featuring split hems, drop shoulders and fitted
sleeves. The cuffs and split hems are worked in a textured twist-stitch pattern, and the neckline copies this texture in an easy companion lace pattern. The
split front and back hems are worked in two pieces, then joined to work the
stockinette body in the round to the armholes. Shoulders are worked with short
row shaping to enhance drape and fit. Sleeve stitches are picked up and worked
down from the armholes to the cuffs. Valley Yarns Northampton is a workhorse
yarn that you will come back to time and time again. We sourced soft Peruvian
wool and dyed it in a beautiful collection of solid colors and heathered shades.
The lace patterns are charted and written out.

Materials and Gauge
The Mint Cooler is knitted with Valley Yarns Northampton, a 100% wool yarn offering both soft comfort and crisp stitch definition ideal for showcasing the pattern work. Yarn requirements range from 6 skeins for smaller sizes (XS, S, M, L) to 10 skeins for the largest size (5XL). Each skein contains 100 grams and 247 yards. The pattern shown features the colorway 05-Light Grey.
Two needle sizes are required for this project. US size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles in 16-inch and 32-40 inch lengths, plus double-pointed needles, are used for the main stockinette stitch fabric, which achieves a gauge of 20 stitches and 28 rows over 4 inches when blocked. US size 5 (3.75 mm) circular needles in the same lengths, plus double-pointed needles, are used for the twist-stitch hem and lace neckline sections, achieving a gauge of 22 stitches and 30 rows over 4 inches when blocked.
Additional materials needed include stitch markers (including locking stitch markers or knitter's safety pins for managing the split hems), stitch holders for holding stitches during construction, and a tapestry needle for finishing and weaving in ends.
