What is Being Made

The Wisteria Vest is a sleeveless knitted garment designed to fit chest measurements ranging from 71-76 cm (28-30 inches) up to 152-157 cm (60-62 inches), making it suitable for a wide range of sizes. This vest features a classic construction with front and back panels, armhole shaping, and a finished neckband. The garment is crafted from Rowan Cotton Cashmere yarn, offering a blend of natural fibers for comfort and drape.

Techniques Used

This advanced beginner-level project employs several fundamental knitting techniques. The vest begins with a ribbed cuff at the lower edge, which provides elasticity and a neat finish. Increases are strategically placed using the make-one (M1) method to shape the garment from the ribbed section into the main body. Armhole shaping is achieved through a combination of cast-offs at the beginning of rows and decreases worked at each end of rows over multiple rows and alternate rows, creating a fitted sleeve opening. The neckline is finished with a circular needle technique for the neckband, which allows for seamless joining of stitches around the neck opening.

Stitches Used

• Ribbing (K1, P1): Used for the lower edge cuff, creating a stretchy, textured border that measures approximately 10 cm in length
