I used the pink/mauve/beige colorway in a simple garter stitch shawl. It is beautiful and I get a lot of compliments whenever I wear the shawl. I bought my yarn at the store. I am so glad that it is now online because I have wanted to use it again, I have only washed my shawl once. It did soften up somewhat with washing but not enough for next-to-skin wear. I generally my shawls in the winter over a blouse or shirt so it has not been a concern for me.

I bought this yarn because of the color to knit socks. I was surprised at the coarse texture but not put off. I soon discovered that it has a very long color repeat which may be an advantage for larger objects but does not work a well for samller items like socks. I ended up with one green sock and one purple sock due to the repeat length. While I'm not bothered by this, you may be if you prefer symmetry.

My biggest complaint came when I ran into a knot. While trying to find a similar color in the transition to continue, I disovered that the transition beyond the knot was running in the opposite direction. I consequently had to begin unwinding the ball from the opposite end to find a color match and get the colors running in the correct direction. This lack of care on the part of the manufacturer is annoying and cost this yarn one star. It is why I called the yarn "user unfriendly".

This is a coarse, sticky yarn that should work well for fair isle, but the yarn ran uneven in consistency (thick, then very thin in places). At times the yarn broke. I would not use it again.

I love the color blending. The wool yarn blocks well and the finished scarf gets softer the more it's used. I have almost all the colors now and my favorite scarf pattern uses two different color skeins which results in unique and beautiful color combinations.

I ordered this yarn because it was the yarn specified for a two color brioche scarf I wanted to make. The color (rainbow) produced a fabulous result! However, I am driven by color, so the drawbacks to this yarn seen by other knitters were not as important to me as the great color result. The yarn is coarse, but I see it as rustic. I intend to make more of the two color brioche scarves, but I doubt that I would use this yarn for any other project. It really is one of those yarns that is a matter of individual preferences.

I wanted a long colour changing yarn in a fingering weight & although I read a few negative comments about this yarn, overall it didn't sound too bad. I was ready to love this yarn but unfortunately that wasn't my experience.
I have now knitted over 1100 grams (1.1 kgs/39 ounces) in the EJ colour which is cream, light tan and various pinks. All of this felt like I was knitting with coarse string.
The 1st thing I noticed about every skein of this yarn is the smell, it smells very musty and dirty. It is FULL of dust and wood splinters. Every few metres I find splinters which I have to remove from the yarn & sometimes the splinters are the only thing keeping the yarn together.
The 2nd thing about this yarn is it isn't spun consistently. The thickness of the yarn is sometimes so thin, that when winding from a skein to a ball will break the yarn & at times a strand is the thickness of worsted weight.
When I wet block the 1st item I finished, I was flabbergasted by the grains of dirt at the bottom of the tub the article was soaking in. I needed to wash and dry the item 3 times before I felt it was truly clean.
Treat this yarn with EXTREME CARE WHEN WET, or it will felt.
I haven't even mentioned the number of knots etc. I think I have made my point.
There are a lot of lovely long colour changing yarns at Yarn.Com
I cannot express how disappointed I am with the choice I made in buying this yarn.
I am sorry this is such a negative review but it is a truthful recount of my experience.

I'm trying a Danish sweater pattern that calls for this yarn and I've never done Norwegian knitting with both hands at the same time. I'm enjoying the process and learning which hand needs to be used for prominence in the stitch but the yarn works wonderfully with it so far and it feeds evenly from the skein. At first I thought it felt coarse but a few rows later, I liked how soft it felt in my hands and it made my hands soft; lanolin? I'm not finished with the sweater yet so I can't answer how it launders or wears but so far, I like it.
