Product Description

Lopi Léttlopi (Lite Lopi) is a classic worsted weight yarn great for Icelandic-style sweaters. The beautiful color selection makes Lopi Léttlopi perfect for Fair Isle work, from warm sweaters and mittens to resilient pillows. It is great for felting as well. Note that some do not find Léttlopi comfortable to wear next to skin.

"Showpony" Yarn

Rather than the expected "workhorse yarn" I was hoping to work with, I noticed that there is little to no elasticity in the yarn so if you pull/tug your tension even just a little too tight, the working yarn easily breaks away; a looser wrist/pattern is needed with this yarn. That being said, the scratchy tendencies minimize after soaking in some lanolin, and does a very good job keeping warmth and moisture controlled (made house slippers with this yarn). It also does block exceptionally well...

Hello, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback - we really appreciate it. I’m sorry to hear the yarn didn’t quite meet your expectation of a more “workhorse” feel, especially in terms of elasticity and handling tension. Your note about needing a looser tension is really helpful, and it’s great to hear you were still able to work successfully with it. Just to add, this yarn is known for its traditional wool character - it’s light, warm, and slightly rustic in feel, rather than highly elastic or springy - so your observations really align with its natural properties. It’s also lovely to hear your positive experience after finishing - especially how the softness improves with soaking, and how well it performs for warmth and moisture control. I’m glad to hear you also found it blocks well and behaves nicely after soaking. If you need any help at all in the future, please don’t hesitate to let us know - we’re always happy to help. main color will be lambs pride Aztec turquoise

The purchase price and process were great. The yarn is a little scratchy, which is why I don't use it more. I figure there won't be enough to make for much scratchiness, but the colors are just right for my project. I'm planning a lopapeysa inspired by Natalie Rumba on Facebook, going off a pattern book Lopi #34, but I will mostly use Lamb's Pride. I am winging it since the Icelandic knitter doesn't have a website or book of patterns, but there are many examples of her ideas on Facebook. WEBS...

I do love this yarn from Iceland; pure wool from the Icelandic sheep. The fibers are more course and stiff but once knit are very flexible and have a softness that is surprising. But, be aware that it is going to be "itchy" if you aren't familiar with this kind of natural wool. I use my shampoo and conditioner when I block my finished products which make it less scratchy. This fiber is known for its warm and water repellent qualities. The colors are lovely with a soft heather quality. I will be...

I have used this yarn for sweaters a few times. It's great for people who are hard on clothes because it's sturdy and doesn't stretch. And I machine wash on cold gentle and dry on low--no shrinkage. Also great if you're a "loose" knitter like me. It's not soft at all and can be scratchy. I always wear turtlenecks under my sweaters. Lite Lopi has a great color selection but it's too bad that Webs never seems to have them all in stock.

I have knit with Lopi yarns for many years, and have enjoyed using their sweater patterns. Lite Lopi has been my yarn of choice in the last 10 years. I went on an extended online search for a particular color called Galaxy through the pandemic and finally found it. I will continue to use Lopi's Icelandic patterns and the various wools they make.

Lettlopi is one of my favorite yarns to use. The price and quality are both great, and I love that I can make a sweater with it for only $50-60. I ordered this yarn because WEBS did not have enough of the colorway at their physical location. It shipped out quickly, and I received all the same dye lot. No complaints here!

I first discovered Lopi yarns while traveling in Iceland many years ago and have continued to purchase it to make warm sweaters, hats and gloves. It is a hearty, sturdy wool from sheep that are bred to withstand harsh climate conditions. This particular purchase in the deep red color is for a hat in the school color of a college-bound friend.
