Used this for a scarf with another yarn, beautiful unfolding of color that looks like a color wheel. I like the variegated thickness/thinness of the yarn as it adds to the texture of the scarf. It is perhaps not the softest yarn but I wouldn't call it scratchy.

I always have an issue with sock yarns where the thread is broken in production and then continued indiscriminately without any consideration for continuity of overall color design. I was disappointed to notice that one 100g skein makes easily a pair of socks, one green and one purple. The color design is so 'long', that you won't get two repeats out of one skein - which makes a difference if you are keen on symmetry. The only way around that would've been to purchase two skeins, but would I have gotten two of the same repeat? Probably not. Yes, the colors are gorgeous, but to my taste the texture is awful, harsh, spiney, and gauge of yarn inconsistent. You wind up with sloppy, droopy socks that need handwashing (now, seriously, how sensible is that?). This was my first and last experiment with the much revered Noro yarn, there are more consistent yarns with much more reliable production quality and at least equal if not better, color designs out there.

Comments about 19.95 Silk Garden Sock:

I made a dynamite sweater pattern that was great with the variegated pattern of the yarn. It does tend to be a little stiff and twist a little while working, but this is not a huge problem. The finished product loosens up and looks fantastic.

Comments about 19.95 Silk Garden Sock:

I've used this yarn before for a hat, which becomes softer over time -- the texture is smooth and silky. It was a beautiful yarn to work with and has kept its shape. It is a very warm wool in our cold Canadian winters.

I love Noror yarn in general because of the way the colors are combined, The fibers are luxurious. I used Silk Garden Sock to make a lace shawl. It worked up beautifully. I would imagine that anything knit in this yarn would be beautiful.

Comments about 19.95 Silk Garden Sock:

Don't get me wrong, the colors are lovely. However, the wool is not soft. It twists up on itself and the yarn width varies greatly in a skein. Frankly, i don't know why the yarn is so popular. Anything you knit with it can't be worn too close to the body because of the rough texture. This is my second purchase of a Noro yarn and I am sad that I didn't learn my lesson after the first time. Lesson learned - never Noro

Comments about 19.95 Silk Garden Sock:

I'm knitting a pattern that calls for "sock yarn", and while this is labeled as sock yarn, the Silk Garden is thicker than most sock yarns, including other types of Noro. It's gorgeous and worthwhile anyway, but you may wish to use a larger needles size with this one.
