Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton Yarn - Cotton Lace

I love Valley 8/2 cotton! In fact, I do most of my weaving with it. It plumps up beautifully when weaving overshot, and is deliciously soft when finished.

I just finished my first inkle band and I was thrilled with how easy it was to do. I believe the 8/2 cotton yarn made the project go quickly and smoothly because it was so easy to work with, and I loved the colors, which were bright and eye catching. I would recommend using this yarn for inkle band projects.

Cheap for a reason. Thinner than other 8/2 cotton (I had to triple both the warp and weft), and inconsistent quality. In fact, one entire cone was useless (every few feet had a significant flaw).

This is one of the best yarns for towels that are soft, beautiful and absorbent. I've used them for years and my customers love the towels and so do we.

I've been buying this yarn for years without problems but my recent order contained a cone that had dozens (hundreds?) of spinning flaws. Every few yards there was a pigtail of mis-spun yarn. After about a week of back and forth with customer service, including sending them 8 photos of the flaws at their request, they said they would ship me a replacement cone. I was told I would be notified when the replacement shipped from their warehouse, but it has now been one week without any follow up or...

The turquoise 8/2 yarn had a knot or twist in one of the plies about every 10 to 15 feet. It resulted in a lot of wasted yarn when I was making a warp. I would not purchase it again.

Yarn had knots about every 10 yards. Lots of "fuzz" which would build up into a bulge as I warped. I won't buy this yarn again.

I use this yarn to make kitchen towels. It is wonderfully soft and absorbent and makes my towels a great selling favorite. The towels hold up year after year and remain soft. At shows, I display a towel that I have used almost daily for 6 years, and people keep trying to buy it since it looks as good as the new ones. It comes in a great variety of colors when they are in stock, which is sometimes a very sore point lately, and it is a very good value.

The 8/2 unmercerized Valley cotton is very soft and easy to work with. There are many great colors when they are in stock, which is often a problem, and there are few knots or slubs. I use it almost exclusively for my towels, which wear like iron and stay bright for many years. In spring and summer, I use bright, vibrant colors, and in the fall, I use fall colors. I use what I have available or order from another company. If the company gets its act together, I will continue to use this product.

The cotton is very nice. I chose this yarn because it is the particular color that I needed. It has a nice hand and is strong enough for the warp. I am making red, white, and blue kitchen towels to enter in the state fair. The project is still in the early stages.
