I used four colors of it for the multicolored stripes in a sweater for myself, plus another six or so colors in a hat. It was delightful to knit -- soft, non-splitty, non-twisty -- and it washed and dried beautifully in the machine. I washed a large swatch first before I started the sweater and was amazed that it came out of the dryer (I set it at medium but my dryer is HOT) looking exactly like it went into the washer. The same was true of the sweater when I ran it through the washer (warm wash, cool rinse, normal cycle) and dryer at the end of winter. I cannot say enough good things about this yarn.

This is the most disappointing yarn I've used in 50 years of knitting. The color was just what I wanted; knitting with the yarn was very pleasant. I completed a very complicated sweater and was excited to clean and wear it. At the very first -- very careful -- washing, the yarn pilled horribly; I have sweaters that are ten years old that aren't such a mess. I've worn the sweater one time, and it proceeded to shed all over my slacks and turtleneck. I was a mess within an hour. I won't ever wear the sweater again; I'm not sure it's is worth giving to Goodwill. Don't waste your time or money on this yarn. (I have given it one star because the system won't let me submit the review without a star...hmmmph.)

Bought this yarn with no previous knowledge or experience with it. I crocheted a gorgeous African Flower motif hat for a friend that came out better than expected and I give most of the credit to the yarn though I'll take a little for myself!

This yarn is soft, knits up easily, resists splitting and has very good stitch definition for a superwash. I made a densely patterned sweater with it and it shows off the patterns well. I will definitely use this yarn again.

I have bought this yarn before and I am very happy with it. The yarn has a great hand, works up nicely and the resulting fabric is wonderful. I also like the pricing of it, which makes knitting a sweater something still within the reach of anybody. Additionally this yarn comes in some wonderful color ranges, so it is exceptionally versatile.

I loved working with this yarn-it's a good weight, nice colors, and was nice and soft. I made a great sweater with it. However, when I wash it, it fuzzes and pills like crazy (getting over everything)-as well as stretching out. :(

Comments about true Valley Superwash DK:

The yarn is very soft and easy to work with. It doesn't split easily. It is slightly fuzzy, which I found surprising as I worked with it. Stitch definition for the lace pattern I created is only mediocre. I haven't finished the sweater yet, but I expect that it will come out well, judging by the swatch with the pattern mods I made to account for stitch definition. Because of the softness, the finished garment should drape well.

I worked this yarn into a sweater vest that had complicated cables snugging the midriff in and stockinette stitch through the bustline into the shoulders. The stitch definition in the cables was beautiful and the stockinette was smooth and even.
