Valley Yarn Worthington offers you soft, rustic tweeds in a splendid color palette. This DK-weight wool— alpaca, and viscose blend— has a subtle halo that will work up beautifully into garments you’ll want to wear again and again. The plies in Valley Yarn Worthington provide you with comfort and durability for high use accessories like fingerless gloves and mittens while the added viscose will help manage pilling.

Note: Some balls are mislabeled as being machine-washable and at 190yds per ball.  This yarn is hand wash recommended and 174yds.

Tweedy, Light, and Durable

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Worthington:

I was first attracted to Worthington by the fiber content; the softness of alpaca, toughness of viscose, combined with the springiness of wool, as well as its subtle tweediness. It has the added bonus of pretty high yardage for a dk weight yarn. This is why I chose it (in color 05, fog) to knit Mathew Gnagy's Jesse Pullover, which has a very dense, 11.5 stitches per inch, diagonal cabled yoke and sleeves. With some care, I have been able to do the cabling without a cable needle with minimal splitting on 4mm Addi Turbos. Though I'm only partly through the first sleeve, I think this is going to be an exceptional garment that will withstand lots of wear. There is the essence of alpaca without the droopiness, and a nice springy, but firm feel to the fabric. I love the feel of it, but wouldn't recommend it for next-to-skin garments. So far, the yarn has been flawless. I haven't had to join yet, but I imagine a spit-splice would work well.

Easy shopping experience, disappointed with the colorway

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Worthington:

I was confident while making this purchase thanks to the thorough and easy-to-understand information about the yarn including its fiber content, gauge, yardage, and description. I definitely made this purchase because of the 30% off sale for all Valley Yarns and I was really happy with the sale price. However, I was frustrated that the photo of the colorway didn't match the true color of the yarn once I picked it up.
