I am making a series of neck warmers as gifts. The pattern calls for sport weight, which I hadn't really used too much prior to this project. I have been delighted with the elegant appearance of the heathers and also the warmth of this yarn. Having usually used worsted weight, the warmth of this weight wool has surprised and delighted me.

I don't normally use sport weight yarns, so I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. But if you like Cascade 220, and just need a lighter weight for a specific project, you'll like this. Like its worsted namesake, it's a good value, a very servicable yarn for items that don't require frequent wahing (unless you just like hand-washing -- I don't). I'd prefer a superwash variant of it for most things I suspect.

I haven't used it in any felted projects to date, but have used other Cascade wool for such things and always been pleased with the results. This yarn would yield a felted fabric not quite so heavy, which might make it even more suitable for some items.

The project I bought this for used 2 strands held together, and the "sturdiness" (for lack of a better word) that gives it its stitch definition made the job of workign with 2 strands much easier than some yarns I've used this way. It also has less of a tendency to come untwisted than other similar yarns I've used. It also seems to be less prone to splitting or shedding than even the worsted Cascade 220.

This is not a "luxury" yarn by any measure, but will give you good results even if you're a relative novice. Overall a very serviceable yarn for knitters of all skill levels.

I usually knit sweaters and this is a perfect yarn for that purpose. The color was exactly what I expected which is not always true with things ordered on line.

I was happy that with four skeins, there were no tangles. It's a soft, plushy feeling yarn. It's easy to work with. The Navy color was spot on with what I needed to match perfectly with my husband's aviation suit. He loves hand knitted socks but I had a hard time trying to find a true Navy in a good working yarn.

Comments about Cascade Yarns 220 Sport:

I fell in love with the texture of rowan felted tweed in my local yarn shop, but none of the colors were suitable for the background of my fair isle project. I found a great color I. This yarn, and the wights are almost identical. My swatch blocked beautifully! It's a bit scratchier than the rowan, but that's OK. I get the beautiful tweediness of the rowan in the foreground, and the cascade is a sublter heather in the background. It's also made my project SOOO much more affordable! I am very pleased. I will warn other knitters that this yarn splits easily, but that's a trade-off I'm willing to make.

Comments about Cascade Yarns 220 Sport:

I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to knitpicks palette, because palette does not come in sport weight. I was hoping it might be a little softer than palette too. I was not super excited when feeling it in the skein, but once I knit a baby hat out of it, it felt better as fabric than on the skein. I would use it again for baby projects. The super wash is important to me for that kind of project. It's not quite what some people would consider "baby soft", but it'll keep a baby quite warm.

I have not purchased this yarn before, why, I don't know unless it's just not as exciting as the newer yarns. But once I discovered it I went crazy over it. Made some mittens which turned out perfect. Will buy more in the future. Every color is available, price is right, where has it been all my life? Very happy with it.

I bought this for a felted hat for my wife and didn't realise how WELL it felted up - the first try ended up as a skullcap for a child (a second effort was more successful). Felted, it shrank about 1/3 around and almost 50% in length and made a very soft thick fabric.
