Cascade 220 Superwash is 100% superwash wool in a DK to light worsted weight. It's the everyday wool you can give to someone who's going to throw it straight in the washer. It comes in a deep range of solids, heathers and marls.

Blankets and afghans come up more than anything else, and baby blankets most of all, because new parents can wash them. Next come baby and kids' sweaters, hats, mittens, donation hats and knitted toys. Makers keep mentioning the stitch definition. One called it perfect for aran sweaters because it "shows off cables wonderfully."
Before you cast on
220 or 220 Superwash?
Classic Cascade 220 is untreated Peruvian Highland wool in a worsted weight. It should be hand washed and dried flat, as it felts when machine washed. 220 Superwash is a little lighter and goes in the washer and dryer. Pick classic 220 when you want to felt, and Superwash for anything that gets washed a lot.

I already had skeins to knit patches to add to squares knitted by kids and grands learning to knit. I made a patchwork baby blanket that needed a 6th color to do edging. I'm still working around the edges of the resulting quilt. It's wonderful, not complete, not even halfway around picking up stitches.
I'm using it to make stuffed toys for my grandchildren. It's sturdy and cleans up well. They've held up great!
