Fiber Flights - ()

Fiber Flights

Have you been wanting to try something new to spin? Just like enjoying a "flight," or sampler, of beer or wine at your favorite restaurant, we'll be spinning a sampler of fibers! Join me for an adventure exploring several very different types of spinning fibers. We'll spin tencel, silk, mohair, and alpaca in blends with wool and by themselves. We'll discuss different ways of preparing each type of fiber and the variety of uses for each. I'll demonstrate types of yarn that can be made taking advantage of the characteristics of each fiber. You'll end up with a greater appreciation for a wide range of fibers, and you'll be much more knowledgeable before heading off the the Fall fiber festivals! PLEASE NOTE: There is a $15 fiber fee, payable to the instructor, for this class.

Prerequisite: You should be able to spin a continuous single and understand the basics of your spinning wheel.
