I love the feel of the flatter grip with the soft rubber-like material that helps you control the hook for long hours of fast work. It wasn't until after a few hour-long sessions, however, that I noticed I had developed a sore spot in the palm of my hand. I changed to an older bamboo-handled hook and immediately noticed it was longer and didn't end in the palm, but went past the edge of my hand. The longer hook did not hurt my hand but it wasn't as swift at work or nearly as smooth on the hook end. It felt more clumsy after the Knitter's Pride hook. I decided it would take time to accustom myself to the fit but I also kept going back to the old hooks rather than develop a toughened palm. But that smooth hook and faster work keeps me eager to make the effort!

I just recently started to crochet again. I always used a classic Susan Bates hook in the the past, but those aren't available any more. I hoped this hook might be a substitute. Unfortunately it isn't. The top of the hook is wedge shaped instead of rounded or pointed. This makes it hard to get into tight stitches. The hook itself is kind of shallow and doesn't have the grooves along the sides with the v shape under the hook that make it hold onto the yarn well. The material the handle is made of has a nice feel. I can't comment on the ergonomic shape because I hold my hook like no one else would. I had no problems with it snagging my yarn, and the metal is highly polished so it is nice and slick. This hook is certainly usable, but it is just OK and not great.

Good price and good to add variety to hook collection, but I will still grab my Clover/Armiur hooks first...but this is totally personal preference. Hook qualuty is great. Price is reasonable.

Comments about true Aluminum Crochet Hooks:

I thought I was going to love this hook as it was so comfortable in my hand. But , after a few hours of crocheting the hook came loose and fell out of the holder and was useless.

I loved this hook so much I went back and ordered more sizes!

It's too loose a stitch for lighter weight yarn. You need to use thick bulky yarn.
