I am a fairly loose knitter and generally choose wool. I have tried bamboo but found it too annoying--the stitches tug and require too much personal attention. I have tried Addi turbo but found I was dropping stitches because they piled up next to the tips and also, then, required too much personal attention. The wooden Dreamz are right for me--in between the other options.

I like their color coding. It helps me remember not to grab the wrong size when changing from, say, the ribbing to the body. (However, some of the color changes are not distinct enough in going up or down one size.)

As to the 47-inch size if I were starting over I would just buy one in each size and forget other lengths and double points. First, I have almost always put fronts and back on one circular (usually 24-inch). You don't have to be as attentive to counting rows that way and if you carry your work on public transportation, there are no needle ends to wave at your seat mate. For most circular knitting I have done 24-inch worked well. Recently I started making children's items and traded down to 16-inch or went to double-points--neither of which was satisfactory. Then I discovered what I believe is called Judy's Magic Needle: just one 47-inch and you can go really small (I have done 8-inch circumference cuffs with no problem). I do not really need my other needles now.

I bought this for a baby blanket knitting project, where the piece width is over 2 feet, hence the choice of circular needle.

I've tried one brand of interchangeable circular set and been disappointed at the tendency of the needle tips to loosen constantly, so I decided to try fixed. The join between the needle and cable is stable, at least - an improvement! - but it isn't smoothly finished enough to let my work slide from one to the other without resistance.

The finish on the wooden needle tips is also less smooth than I was expecting from the finish on my interchangeable wooden needle tips; it may be variations in different manufacturer's finishes, or a general point to be aware of with wood. I've considered applying a layer of clear top coat nail polish to the needles to try to improve the glide of the work, but I am too concerned with the possible effect on my current project to try it right away.

I am hoping that as I get further into the project the cable will loosen up and be more relaxed, but so far I have had to wrestle it a bit as it coils back on itself more stubbornly than I'd like.

It's possible that these problems for me would be advantages for someone else or for a different kind of project, so I'm giving it three stars. That said, I really can't recommend a tool that feels like it's fighting the pretty basic straightforward work I'm doing.

Comments about KNITTER'S PRIDE Dreamz Fixed Circular Needles 47"":

I'm using this long circular needle to knit a large afghan for my grandson's freshman year at college. Needed a needle long enough to hold a large number of stitches throughout the process.
    I like this.

The needle split lengthwise while I was knitting wool socks. Hardwood will do that.

Love the color. The fact that it is acrylic I didn't know if I would like, but once you use them, they are great. If you need a pointier tip, use something else.

I'm using a circular needle for a straight piece for ease of picking up and putting down and traveling. This was the only company with the length I wanted at the size I needed. I am really happy that this product knits just as nicely and easily as my Addi Turbos.
