I am incredibly impressed with these needles. They combine the best of all worlds to me:

* They have the light weight of bamboo or wood, along with the slight 'grip' along the length of the needles that prevents needles from slipping out if you need to set your work down; this has often been an issue for me with metal needles, which tend to be heavier and are slightly more smooth along the length of the needle shaft.

* They have fine metal points. My primary issue with wood and bamboo needles, since I often work with no higher than size 3 or 4 US, is dull or dulling points. I don't have to worry about the tips wearing down after a few projects as I did with my smaller bamboo needles and replacing them repeatedly costs far more than a set of these in the long run! I'm hard on my needles, and these do not feel like I might easily break them unless I'm careful.

* I like the black. It really helps the stitches stand out without being a distraction. (Also, it's quite beautiful in person, with a subtle grain visible in it unseen in the images.) That the sizes are printed on the needle clearly, even at the very small sizes, is quite helpful, since smaller sizes aren't always available on needle sizers, and they can start blending together visually more easily than the larger sizes.

Not the "perfect needle."

The transition from the nickle point to the shaft often catches the yarn or makes it difficult for the yarn to slide down the needle as you work. Especially when purling.

The shaft is black. If you are working with dark yarn it is almost impossible to see your stitches.

The shaft is a little has a bit to much grip.

I like the fact that they don't bend out of shape as the bamboo do. I like that they are not as slippery as metal needles. But over all I find bamboo to be a better needle. Bamboo has moderate grab and not joint to interfere with the knitting and is easy to see your stitches on.

I'm not unhappy about my purchase but I rather doubt I will purchase another set unless the design changes.

Comments about true Karbonz Double Pointed Needles 6"":

I tend to have a kung fu grip on my sock needles and wooden needles tend to end up bent but these things are tough, but still feel good in my hands and the strong tips helps with those tight k2 tog stitches

Comments about true Karbonz Double Pointed Needles 6"":

I'm a new knitter though I've crocheted for years. Love the feel of these in my hands and the way the yarn slides over them. They are "sticky" enough I don't feel like they will fall out (as long as they are holding more than 2 stitches) yet the yarn glides over them smoothly. I was hesitant to spend this much on a set of needles without being able to hold them first but I love them!

The transition from nickel to carbon is not the smoothest transition, in fact I had another set that snagged. I just bought these to use on a sock pattern that required a strong tip to execute the stitches.

This is my second pair in a smaller size. I like bamboo, but frequently I have sat on my dp's and broke one. I hope to buy additional needles in the future. Need a sale!
