I like this yarn very much and will be buying, more of it when I can. The colors are lovely and rather than having a distinct stripe, they fade nicely from one color to the next. I'm only sorry that my project didn't show that off as well as a different type of pattern would have. I love yarn of this weight for crochet, as,the finished product doesn't get too bulky. I agree that mostly it is somewhere in between fingering and dk, my yarn changed a bit in thickness throughout the ball, but overall the yarn was thicker than I expected having read the previous reviews here. And I don't at all understand saying it breaks easily. Mine, at least, was perfectly fine for normal hand knit or crochet use. For me, this yarn was exactly what I hoped for and there was nothing I didn't like about it.

Not DK

Very pretty colors, but although this yarn is labeled as DK, it really isn't. It's very thin, more like light fingering. Therefore, I couldn't use it for my project.

Not for me

Comments about LOUISA HARDING Amitola:

I do not like this yarn for anything worn close to the skin. It is also very fuzzy (halo'ed). It feels fine in the hand but not around my neck. The color graduation is lovely and the only aspect of this yarn I like. Bought to sample for a pattern, really glad I tested first.

I made a shawl with this Yarn. Beautiful multi color and soft. Very thin yarn, takes a bit to get used to, to work with it.

Great color and feel. Only negative is that the yarn splits very easily.

Versatile yarn

Comments about LOUISA HARDING Amitola:

Amitola blends beautifully with mohair yarns for soft cowels, shawls, and shoulder cozies.
Only caution: When ordering, note difference between Amitola (DK but can also be substituted in patterns that call for fingering yarn) & Amitola Grande (worsted weight). The latter is considerably heavier - not suitable for lacy patterns but great for warm winter hats.

      BUYER BEWARE!!!

      Comments about LOUISA HARDING Amitola:

I thought I was buying the right yarn but did not realize that there is an Amitola and an Amitola Grand. Unfortunately I bought Amitola and not the Grand and now I have the wrong yarn. I didn't realize it until I started knitting up the pattern and it seemed too loose. Now I cannot return it. Ugh!!! The only time I have actually bought the actual yarn that the pattern calls for. And I thought I was getting a great deal because it was on sale.

Have made two Inspria Steampunk cowls and love how it comes together! I've seen the same cowl made in several different other yarn types and I feel the AmItola worked best.

      Comments about LOUISA HARDING Amitola:

This is a lovely yarn with a good feel and vivid color change. The only thing I do not like about it is that it is just a little webby feeling due to the 20% silk content. And, it is very sticky when frogging. I am, however, delighted in the results of my project

          Beautiful, Long Colorway

          Comments about LOUISA HARDING Amitola:

I love this yarn. Working on my second cowl with this and hope to create a pair of fingerless mitts and/or a slouchy beanie.
I used two different colorways to create the Inspira Steampunk Cowl found (for free) on Ravelry.
