Gretel is a beret with a lattice cable pattern worked in worsted weight yarn. Pattern is given for three different styles to create a traditional fitted beret shape, a slouchy snood like shape, or a regular style somewhere in between the other two and similar to a traditional tam. Cable pattern is both charted and written out.
Yarn Requirements: 155, 195, 230 yds of worsted weight yarn such as Valley Yarns Amherst (100% Merino Wool; 50g/109yds)
US 5 (3.75mm) DPNs
US 7 (4.5mm) 16-24" circular and DPNs
16 sts and 24 rows = 4" in stockinette
16sts and 28 rows = 4" in 2×2 rib (make sure that both stitch and row gauge are achieved with the rib stretched in the same way)
