A Spinner's Introduction to Plying


Further your spinning education with this necessary lesson in the fundamentals of plying your spun yarn. As well as providing a spinning refresher, students will learn two-ply, three-ply, Navajo ply, and how to expand color work in plying. You'll be able to fully explore all these methods while learning how to customize your yarn. Please remember to bring your lunch!

Prerequisite: Introduction to Handspinning on a Wheel or equivalent
Skill Level: Beginner

Materials Required:

  • Your spinning wheel, in good working condition
  • 3 Extra bobbins
  • Lazy Kate
  • 8 ounces of Ashland Bay Mixed BFL Top
  • 4 ounces of a colorful, dyed braid of fiber (can be any fiber blend)
  • Remember to bring a lunch to eat in the classroom.
