Acid Dyes and Indigo Vat Color Theory Workshop*

This class is currently full. Please call Customer Service at 1-800-367-9327 to be put on the wait list.

*This class fulfills the Color Theory Requirement for WEKP.

On the first day of this intense workshop, students will create 36 colors using 3 primary colors of Wash Fast Acid Dyes. This exercise lends itself to comfort using dyes on animal fibers such as wool or alpaca. Not only will students learn color theory, but will leave the workshop with samples and recipes to recreate those colors. On the second day of the workshop, students will learn to mix an Indigo Vat. As the vat ferments, we will prepare cotton cloth squares for dyeing using ancient Shibori techniques. Students will leave the workshop with at least 6 different samples. They can be used to make small tablecloths or pillow covers, while showing a new use for this ancient technique. There is a $15 materials fee, payable to the instructor.
