Andrea Rangel’s Botanical Beach is a fabulous hat that
reminds her of the wild place in Port Renfrew, BC, on Vancouver Island, where the
waves crash on slippery rocks and gorgeous evergreen trees jut above the
shoreline. Bring the ocean with you wherever you go with this colorwork togue
on which waves splash and recede in a mesmerizing stitch pattern. The
colorwork pattern is in chart form only.
Sizes: Child (Adult S, M, L)
Finished Measurements: 16¾ (18½, 20¼, 22)” circumference and 8¾ (9, 9¼, 9½)” length from top of crown to bottom of the brim and intended to be worn with approximate 1” negative ease
Yarn Requirements: Worsted weight yarn such as Berroco Vintage (50% Acrylic/40% Wool/10% Nylon; 100g/217yds)
Color A – 90 (95, 105, 110) yards
Color B – 40 (45, 50, 50) yards
Needles:
US 7 (4.50mm) 16” circular and DPNs
US 8 (5.00mm) 16” circular
Gauge:
19 sts and 25 rows = 4” in plain stockinette stitch on US 7 (4.50mm), after blocking
19 sts and 25½ rows = 4” in colorwork pattern on US 8 (5.00mm), after blocking
