The Ashford Kiwi 2 is an excellent beginner spinning wheel due to its easy learning ratios, double treadle and affordable price. The double treadle and ball bearings allow for easy treadling and “hands-free” start. Treadles are hinged to allow a comfortable heel-toe action. The stretchy drive cord does not require any adjustment as you change from one ratio to another and always maintains the correct tension. The scotch tension allows easy control of the drafting process. The central flyer is convenient for right and left-handed spinners. The wheel is easy and quick to assemble with the Allen key supplied and the robust construction makes this an ideal wheel for individuals, schools and clubs. The wheel itself is made of MDF, a high-density durable wood product that can be painted or decorated.

    Comments about Orifice 10mm (0.39"") Kiwi 2:

I have wanted this spinning wheel for 3-years and I was finally able to give myself a birthday gift. I had the opportunity to take the Ashford Kiwi for a spin at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival and it was a dream to spin on. I tried the Hitchhiker first, but I couldn't get the wheel rhythm. Then I sat down to the Kiwi and instantly, I was spinning.

    Comments about Orifice 10mm (0.39"") Kiwi 2:

My husband bought this wheel for me for my birthday and I love, love, LOVE it!! I started last month and my teacher let me use one of her old wheels which happened to be a babe. Switching to this little workhorse was like the difference between night and day! The action is smooth and it is a really good quality wheel for the price. I intend on adding the large flyer so that I can do art yarn.

If you are thinking about buying an ashford, I highly recommend them. Oh, also, the shop that my husband purchased this wheel from said that they hold value and that if I wanted to sell it, as long as I took care of it, it would fetch a nice price.

      Comments about Orifice 10mm (0.39"") Kiwi 2:

I am a beginning spinner with only a few lessons under my belt, however I felt very strongly that I loved doing it and wanted a wheel of my own. The one I had done my lessons on, though what I really wanted, wasn't in my price range as a starter wheel. I felt like I settled in getting the Kiwi, at least, that is until I was sitting at it spinning! I love this wheel. If you are patent with finishing it (I used 2 coats of tung oil)and get it put together, once you sit down to this wheel and start spinning, you will be so grateful you took your time with it. I use it every day. I just can't wait to get the jumbo flyer, I already need it!
