I had to write a second review of this product now that I have actually gotten a pair of socks for myself from it. I love this sock yarn. It is smooth, soft, springy, shows great stitch definition, washes well, wears well - with no pilling. I have mainly made socks for my sister as gifts and she raves about them. She lives in Minnesota so winters can be quite brutal and she has a job where she is in and out constantly. The socks keep her feet warm and are comfortable. I finally got a pair made for myself and they are my favorite. The self patterning yarns are fun but sometimes you need something more subdued so these solids are great - just throw in some cables and lace and you have classy and fun socks. Can't say enough good things about this yarn.

This yarn is soft, the color is stunning BUT not on my hands. I used cerulean blue for a scarf and while knitting it up I felt like a Smurf. My fingers turned blue and it was not easily removable.I'm hoping some vinegar when I soak this will stop the problem. Other than that, it's Smurftastic! ( Sorry. Couldn't resist).

I bought this yarn to complement some hanks in my stash that have the same composition. I've always had good luck with Cascade yarns, and WEBS.

I often pair this solid with either a variegated or a coarser and less sturdy yarn and knit together. Have done this on scarves and vests. This yarn is soft, sturdy, with a wide range of attractive colors. It's the workhorse of the pair.

            Comments about 11.00 Heritage Sock:

I wanted a soft wool yarn that is machine washable for knitting a scarf. Also, a long yarn so I could knit the scarf with one skein. This is a perfect yarn for that, super soft (I haven't washed it yet) and easy to knit. However, I would add it is thinner than I expected, I guess perfect for sock knitting which is its intended purpose (I don't knit socks). I finished one scarf, but for the second one I think I am going to knit two strands at once, to make it a bit heavier. But again, super soft, lovely against the skin and very easy to knit.

Currently making a scarf with this yarn, but LOVE sweaters made from fingering/sock weight yarn. They are worth the extra time to construct, as they become the perfect layering items in any wardrobe. Even in Southern California we need our sweaters to ward off the evening breezes, and this yarn makes perfect weight garments.
