Geometric Embroidery on Wool with Dario Tubiana - V- Summer 2025

In this workshop, we will explore geometric embroidery on wool. You’ll learn how to work various stitches directly onto knitted fabric - no stabilizers or markers needed! This technique is perfect for adding unique finishing touches to any knitted project, allowing you to create stunning visual effects. I will guide you through different stitches, and as you practice, you’ll naturally pick up additional techniques just by playing with the fabric and following the directions of the stitches and rows. Geometric embroidery on wool is pure fun!

Format: Virtual

Materials Required:

-        Yarn: any kind of fngering yarn or mohair yarn you have in your stash. Any colour will do.

-        Some worsted yarn as well, but bring whatever you have at home because you can really play with this technique!

-        Knitted swatch - approx. 20x20 cm knitting in DK / worsted yarn.

-        Embroidery Hoop approx. 22cm /9’’ diameter (Not compulsory but if you to have at hand, bring it!)

-        Scissors

-        Tapestry / Chenille Needles (make sure that the wool you are using passes through the eye)

HOMEWORK:

In order to practice together you will need to knit a swatch knitted in stocking stitch and in DK yarn. The swatch should be a square with a side measuring 24 cm (9.5 ins).

Take your time to knit the swatch the correct size for it will have be framed into the embroidery hoop and should therefore be slightly larger than the hoop’s circumference. I suggest to bring to class a 22 cm (9 ins) embroidery hoop.
