Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving - IP- Winter 2026

*This class fulfills the Non-Knitting Elective / Wild Card Elective Requirement for WEKP.

Have you been wanting to weave but feel intimidated by all the moving parts? Is weaving something you’d like to try but just haven’t gotten around to it? Are you interested in weaving but unsure if you’ll enjoy it? Have you looked into weaving classes, only to find them expensive or difficult to commit to?

If you answered “yes” to one or more of these questions, WEBS has just the class for you! Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving is a one-day, fun workshop that teaches the fundamentals of weaving on a simple rigid heddle loom. In just one day, you’ll learn how to thread and weave a scarf—yes, a scarf can really be made in a single day! No prior knowledge or experience is required. The instructor brings many years of tips and tricks to help make your first project a success. Tuition includes the use of a store loom, so there’s no need to own one—a convenient added bonus!

For the comfort and safety of our students and teachers, students may be asked to wear a mask during in person classes and workshops, and masks are available upon request.

Format: In person

Materials Required:

·        one ball/cake of either Berroco Summer Sesame, Universal Bamboo Pop, Berroco Remix LIGHT or Ella Rae Marmel Duo

·        scissors

·        note taking materials

·        tape measure

·        2 brown grocery bags with the bottoms cut out or a roll of craft paper

·        This is an all day class, so bring your lunch.

HOMEWORK:
prepare paper bags if needed

Cancellation Policy: For all classes, payment of full tuition is due at time of registration. Tuition will be refunded only if the class is cancelled by WEBS, or if there is a waiting list and your spot can be filled.
