IIngelill from Jen Hagan Design is a Viking hat for little ones! Its modular construction gives you lots of choices—make a headband, a beanie, or an earflap hat all from one pattern. Start with the cabled band, graft the ends, and expand from there. Pompoms and bobbles are optional, and you can line the band for extra warmth. The cable pattern is charted and written out.

Yarn Requirements: 150 (250) yards of sport weight yarn, such as Valley Yarns Valley Superwash Sport (100% Extra Fine Superwash Merino Wool; 50g/153yds)
Needles: US 5 (3.75mm) 16” circulars and DPNs
Gauge:
24 sts and 32 rnds = 4” in stockinette stitch, after blocking
28 sts and 32 rnds = 4” in cable pattern, after blocking
