We’re cooking up a very special Rowan Weekend with Georgia Farrell!
Join us at WEBS on Saturday, February 18th, 2023, for her hands-on workshop:
Knitted Collage: Colour and Texture in which Georgia will demonstrate how she uses architectural images as inspiration. Students will get creative with colored paper and pencils to create graphic collages that you will then translate into chart form, ready to make your own unique knitted collage from. She will cover how to translate basic blocks of color and texture from your collages, into a knitting chart, the basics of intarsia, and how to combine color and texture to add depth to your design. This class will give you a real insight into how she created many of the designs from her collection 'Abstract'.
For the comfort and safety of our students and teachers, students may be asked to wear a mask during in-person classes and workshops, and are available upon request.
Class level: Advanced beginner
Date: Saturday, February 18
Homework: Knit a gauge swatch using Rowan Felted Tweed and adjust needles accordingly to get ball band tension
Supplies:
- US 6 (4mm) needles (or needle size used to obtain ball band tension for Rowan Felted Tweed)
- Paper scissors
- Ruler
- A small selection of coloring pencils
- A pen
- Glue stick
- Masking tape
- A selection of Rowan Felted Tweed, part balls are ideal if you have any leftovers in your stash, at least 5 colors you like together
Georgia Farrell is a British designer, with a passion for creating architecturally-inspired designs for hand knitting and beyond. Georgia combines a methodical approach to visual research with a more organic approach to creative exploration, and she loves to share the stories and concepts behind each of her designs.
With a background in textiles, Georgia skillfully translates her passion for architectural details into textured knitted fabrics. From there she crafts and builds collections of accessories, garments, and homewares, to be knitted, worn, and enjoyed.
Georgia is based in Essex, to the east of London in the UK, and works out of her design studio on the Hylands Estate in Chelmsford.

Cancellation Policy: For all classes, payment of full tuition is due at time of registration. Tuition will be refunded only if the class is canceled by WEBS. or if there is a waiting list and your spot can be filled.
