Comments about LECLERC Table Model Warping Mill:

This is a great "small" warping mill, very solid and will do as much as I expect to ever need. Having it on a table makes it ergonomically very comfortable to operate--but it will take up the whole of a small table. It folds a bit but not flat or you can disassemble. The instructions were okay but a tad scanty; still, well illustrated and fairly simple to put together--it even came with two sturdy screw drivers! The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that the finish work left something to be desired. There's a dirty, oily finger mark under the oil finish on one of the cross pieces that catches my eye every time I turn the thing. The upright rods aren't sanded smooth in large swaths and some surfaces obviously didn't receive as much varnish/oil as others. Unfortunately, some of these surfaces ended up on top because of inattention; it should have been obvious to whoever was finishing which surfaces would be up because of how the holes are drilled. I guess I'm old school but if I'm going to pay a lot for something, I expect it to be nicely finished. I haven't received anything from the major manufactures in the last several years that felt as nice as the older fiber tools, including looms, that you buy used. And yet we are certainly paying a lot more for them! The base of this warping mill was the only thing that I consider well finished. I will probably end up sanding and refinishing parts of this mill. And, with that in mind, why not buy Harrisville kits and save some money?
