Math can be fun, especially for knitters who want to be in control of their work. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the nitty-gritty of knitting gauge, and we’ll play with percentages and pattern stitch numbers to make sizing adjustments for those times you simply can’t get gauge on the perfect yarn for the perfect project. We’ll also talk about yarn-substitution arithmetic and adding simple shaping to garments, and if there is time, experiment with other knitting number-magic, like the Fibonacci sequence and MacGyver-style measuring. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have some new math tools for your knitting skills kit, and you’ll be ready to play with, not by, the numbers on your next project! (NOTE: This class includes a 1-hour lunch break.)

You will receive the Zoom link 1-2 business days before the virtual class.

Materials Required:

Paper and pen for taking notes/calculator/ If you'd like to adjust a pattern of your own, please bring it and we'll take a look if we have time. Because this class will be offered remotely (via Zoom), the instructor strongly recommends you have reliable Internet access. You will also need a good-sized screen through which to take part in class (computer is best, but a tablet will also work).

When possible, please buy your materials from WEBS.

Cancellation Policy: For all classes, payment of full tuition is due at time of registration. Tuition will be refunded only if the class is cancelled by WEBS, or if there is a waiting list and your spot can be filled.
