Product Details

Overshot is often the first block weave that attracts newer weavers who are familiar with plain weave and twill basics. Overshot’s exquisite design possibilities, using four shafts to create four pattern blocks, make it an attractive and complex structure for weavers of all levels. Starting with the basics, we’ll examine Overshot’s threading, tie-up and treadling rules. We’ll turn an Overshot profile draft into a thread-by-thread draft and learn about Star and Rose variations that change the look of your Overshot cloth. We’ll examine how any twill draft can become an Overshot draft. From fundamentals to designing a name draft, this class will enlighten and excite weavers interested in understanding and designing this charming structure.

For the comfort and safety of our students and teachers, students may be asked to wear a mask during in person classes and workshops, masks are available upon request.

Materials Required:

Table looms, jack looms, and four-shaft rigid heddle looms (such as the Cricket Quartet) are all welcome. Students are encouraged to bring laptops and weaving software to class! $25 for handout materials to be paid to the instructor at the start of the workshop.

HOMEWORK:

Students must have their looms prepped and ready to weave at the start of class.

When possible, please buy your materials from WEBS.

Cancellation Policy: For all classes, payment of full tuition is due at time of registration. Tuition will be refunded only if the class is cancelled by WEBS, or if there is a waiting list and your spot can be filled.
