I love the Pony Pearl DPNs. I was hesitant to try them at first because I generally have not been too fond of plastic needles in the past. But these are great - warm with a bit of flex & just enough "stickiness" to keep stitches from flying off - a big plus when knitting socks. I also like the blunt tips because one of my favorite sock yarns is quite splitty. And they are virtually indestructible (I cannot count the number of wooden & casein needles that have snapped during use & I don't think I am particularly hard on needles). And I don't think you can beat the price. I also love that they come in different colors for different sizes. Otherwise, it is surprisingly easy to mix up a 2.25 mm needle with a 2.5 mm needle. Overall, especially considering price & durability, these are by far my favorite DPNs.

I ordered these DPNs because I was in the mood to try something a little different, and I'm a sucker for brightly colored things. These are certainly "different" from my other needles, unfortunately, not in a way that was helpful.

First off, the size 3 I ordered was a cheap looking opaque white. Not colorful at all. Somewhat disappointing. But I can deal. What I could not deal with was how HEAVY these needles were. I don't think it's the plastic itself that is weighty, it's whatever material is at the core of these to reinforce them that makes them so heavy. I understand that you'd want a durable needle, and plastic is prone to bending, but these are almost unusable. The weight of the other three needles hanging unused would pull on my knitting so badly that it was impossible not to have unsightly distortions and ladders (and I NEVER get ladders).

They're quite sticky, which can be useful with certain fibers. I can appreciate a little bit of drag. But I won't be buying these in any more sizes. It just goes to show...sometimes you're better off just sticking with what you know you like!

Comments about true Pearl Double Pointed Needles:

I purchased size zero needles for a sock project. While these needles are warm in the hand and have just enough friction to keep yarn from slipping, the end of one snapped off on the third day of use. I'll stick with metal next time.

Comments about true Pearl Double Pointed Needles:

I discovered Pony Pearls more than 15 years ago when I had my own knitting business. I sold (and used) just about every kind of DP needles, including Noble Rosewood and Ebony. Pony Pearls are still the ones I reach for when I need DP'S. Love the different colors which help me find the right size (I keep several dozen in a canister on my table) and I love the sturdiness of the needles. The 8" are my favorites.

Comments about true Pearl Double Pointed Needles:

I have used pony pearl needles for years after having wooden ones break when using. Pony pearls bend when needed and critical points and are wonderful to work with. I highly recommend them to anyone who knits on size 1 needles.

These are warm, bright and each size specifically colored.
As they are bright you can see each stitch easily.
Toys are fiddly and previously I bent needles and snapped bamboos. These survive till I'm in a rush, don't pair them up in the silicon holders (Clover) and the fairies run away with them.
SO I bought a whole new set in four sizes.

            I love the colors!
Ok I don't love the Flouro Orange till I have mens dark socks on a dull day and the lights fading. Then they are great. They never clash.
I can five at a glance because those colors are so far away from each other.
I bought two pairs of 4 sizes!!! Happy Happy! Hugs WAH

Comments about true Pearl Double Pointed Needles:

I LOVE these needles and I am so glad they come in the small sock sizes! I have been binge knitting socks today and I have no hand pain. They are so comfortable to use and they have a bit of flex so they are not poking my hands. I am going to order a couple of more sets just in case they become hard to find which is always what happens to me. Highly recommended.

Comments about true Pearl Double Pointed Needles:

I am rough on double points plus I am very fussy about material of double points to avoid hand pain.

These needles can take my abuse. I have bent/broken thin double points in other materials. these needles have a bit of give I find quite pleasant, but do not warp.

They are very friendly to my hands. I can knit for hours with a minimum of hand pain.

I like the security of a bit of stickiness in my needles. I find the material grips the yarn similar to bamboo.

My only beef is lack of numbers on the needles. I keep them in their well worn paper package so I know what size I have.

I own several sets and these are my go to double points. Thank you Webs for carrying these needles.
