Led by Beth Gorishek, the Adaptive Knitter, this class will introduce you to the Portuguese Knit and Purl stitches, designed to minimize strain and create fluid movements that can transform your knitting experience. Whether you’re a seasoned knitter looking to diversify your techniques or someone seeking an approach that better suits your body’s current needs, this workshop meets you right where you are.

Beth’s personal journey as a disabled knitter has taught her how vital adaptability is in sustaining a joyful connection to craft. She’ll share how Portuguese Knitting became an invaluable tool for her - and for others navigating physical challenges, from hand fatigue to mobility issues and low vision.

In this interactive class, you’ll:

Learn step-by-step how to execute the Portuguese Knit andPurl stitches with ease.

Explore tools like the knitting pin and tension rings, which can reduce hand strain and provide greater control.

Practice your new skills with a free pattern designed specifically to help you build confidence in this technique.

Beyond the stitches, this class is about embracing change and finding your unique rhythm in knitting. With Beth’s guidance, you’ll see how Portuguese Knitting can serve as both a creative tool and a lifeline for making your craft sustainable, joyful, and accessible.

Join us for a session that celebrates adaptability, inclusivity, and the power of knitting as a practice for every body. Whatever your knitting journey, let’s explore how this remarkable technique can help you knit your way forward.
