The top is knit flat in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed. The shawl is knit flat from the bottom up seamlessly. Gauge:
    Sweater – 28 sts and 30 rows = 4” in pattern stitch
    Top – 19 sts and 24 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch with two strands of yarn held together
    Shawl – 18 sts and 35 rows = 4” in garter stitch
