Like all Rowan yarns I have tried, this is a real joy to knit with and to wear. When I've compared other superwash yarns, I've been very disappointed.
The colors of Rowan yarns are from nature, and they are such pleasure to knit with and live with. Maybe most importantly, Rowan yarns never damage my finger skin. Many other brands contain something in the dyes, I think, that dry out and split my finger and thumb skin. Who wants that?

I bought this yarn, hoping it would be a good substitute for Cascade 220 Superwash, my long time go-to yarn for baby wear.It was on sale as discontinued colors, so I couldn't return it.I wasn't pleased with the colors, which were dull and just not very pretty, and completely dissatisfied with the texture and performance of the yarn while knitting and blocking.I found it unpleasant to work with because of the roughness in the hands, and it did not produce crisp cables. I also found it quite splitty, so much so that I abandoned the cables and went to a ribbed stockinette instead. (Mind numbing!)
It's a somewhat sticky yarn, so it doesn't frog well. It also had more than a few fragile joins that were too small to see sufficiently in advance to plan where to put a snip-out, and too weak to trust to use as they were. (I prefer a big, honking knot that can be seen far in advance than a slightly visible, weak joint. This yarn had the latter.)
I finished one baby blanket, found it quite too rough to contact baby's skin, and tried in vain to soften with oil free hair conditioner (ionized water) after a Eucalan wash, then even used Downy fabric softener. I will say that the finished blanket came out of three hand washing processes looking as nice as when I started my efforts to soften it.On this basis, this yarn may be good for garments or throws that will not be in direct contact with skin.
The raspberry color yarn was too ugly to use for anything, so I'll donate it to Goodwill along with the finished baby blanket in blue.
I wish I could report the satisfaction of other reviewers, but I just can't.I learned NOT to purchase on sale any yarn that I am not familiar with, because it's not returnable.I completely understand the necessity of the policy of sale items not being returnable to WEBS.That policy is perfectly rational,I learned an important reminder of the need to be a careful shopper, especially when so much work will go into knitting.

Comments about ROWAN Pure Wool Worsted:

I like this Rowan washable wool for hats, scarves, mittens, sweaters, blankets, but not as much as I like Berroco's Ultra Wool (5 Stars) which has a much softer hand. That said, Rowan and Berroco have different colors in their lines, so to get the widest color choices it is good to use both. In terms of cost, Berroco is more of a value proposition for similar yarn at a price point that is about $2+ less per ball.

Comments about ROWAN Pure Wool Worsted:

I made the Great American Afghan with Pure Wool. I prefer to knit with wool but I needed it to be machine washable. Before washing it, it seemed a little stiff. However, after I washed in the machine and laid it out to dry it became soft with a lovely drape. I have long been a fan of Rowan Yarns and Pure Wool is no exception..

Very disappointed

Comments about ROWAN Pure Wool Worsted:

I received a gift of 5 skeins on yarn and purchased 3 skeins of a contrast to do colorblock knitting...the stitch definition is awful and there were many loose plies. Don't think I would purchase this product again. Also there was a lot of bleeding when I washed the sweater.

Comments about ROWAN Pure Wool Worsted:

Wool is very soft and beautiful colors. Love to work with it. I use it to make cardigan, sweaters, hats, teddy bears. You basically can do anything you want with it and for a pure wool yarn it is really nice and soft and the stitches come out gorgeous.

Comments about ROWAN Pure Wool Worsted:

Bought this yarn to knit five hats for the Women's March. Found it in Magenta. The color is beautiful and fun, and the yarn is easy to knit with. I'm knitting with size 8 needles which are really pointy and the yarn does not split. It's soft and not heavy, but warm when knitted. Perfect for the hats.

Workhorse yarn

Comments about ROWAN Pure Wool Worsted:

This seems like a solid workhorse yarn on the order of Cascade 220, maybe a little softer? I'd happily choose it for sweaters if it comes in the color I'm looking for.

    Perfect Project

Comments about ROWAN Pure Wool Worsted:

Love working with this yarn. This is one of those projects that I don't want to put down. Current project uses umber & oxygen. Like the description says, this is a good solid workhorse yarn with beautiful stitch definition that knits easily. No knots at all, basic good quality wool for every stash. I definitely recommend this wool and will buy it again myself without hesitation.
