During this embroidery workshop, participants will explore basic stitches suitable for wool. The session will cover outline stitches such as Back Stitch, Split Stitch, and Stem Stitch; 3D stitches like Bullion Stitch and French Knots; as well as filling stitches including Satin Stitch and Long and Short Stitch. Additional decorative techniques will also be introduced, offering a wide range of options for embellishing knits.

Before beginning work on a swatch, the workshop will provide an overview of the key differences between embroidering on standard canvas and on wool. Guidance will be given on embroidery placement, recommended materials, and helpful tips to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stitching experience.

You will receive the Zoom link 1-2 business days before the virtual class.

Format: Virtual

Materials Required:

• Knitted swatch in Stockinette stitch and DK yarn - approx 24x24 cm / 10’’ x 10’’ ( it needs to ft in the hoop)

• Water-soluble Tracing paper (stabilizer)

• Embroidery Hoop (recommended wooded hoop 22 cm / 9’’ diameter)

• Marker - any black marker with fne point.

• Chenille Needles (approx. size 14 or 16)

• Yarn for the embroidery: it is possible to use the yarn provided in the kit or any similar yarn.

• Scissors

• Printed template that you will fnd in the handout

HOMEWORK:

In order to practice together you will need to knit a swatch knitted in stocking stitch and in DK yarn. The swatch should be a square with a side measuring 24 cm (9.5 ins).

Take your time to knit the swatch the correct size for it will have be framed into the embroidery hoop and should therefore be slightly larger than the hoop’s circumference. I suggest to bring to class a 22 cm (9 ins) embroidery hoop.
