Tri-Color Houndstooth Table Runner: Rigid Heddle - Beyond Basics

You have mastered weaving scarves and now what? Ready for something new? Explore threading your loom and weaving with three colors at the same time! Learn how to twist the colors at the edges for a clean look, how to weave a fine border for hemming a nice finished edge (no more tying knots!), how to spread open a clean warp to avoid twisted threads and how to find the right “beat” for your project. Bring your loom to class and work at your own pace. You can finish up your runner at home. The more subtle your color choices, the more “hidden” the houndstooth pattern. If you choose colors with great contrast, the houndstooth pattern will be more visible. Finished dimensions after hemming, washing and pressing approximately: 13” x 36”.

Format: In-Person

Prerequisite: Intro to Rigid Heddle
Materials Required:

Rigid heddle loom (15” or larger) with one 10 dent reed

Loom stand or loom clamps

Warping peg

Threading hook

Yarn: three different colors of Cascade Ultra Pima (DK/light worsted, NOT Fine) wound into balls BEFORE day of class. One skein of each color

Three stick shuttles 16 -20” (do not have to be all the same length)

One Medium pick up stitch 18-22” (OR an extra shuttle 20” or longer)

Craft paper for rear beam, approximately 15” x 60” (can be in 2 pieces)

Sharp scissors

Fray Check

Measuring tape

Tapestry needle

Several yards of scrap yarn for header

2 sturdy rubber bands
